And Then There Were None (2015) book comparison

Ok so like I said, I have just finished the BBC miniseries, "And There Were None". This mini-show was an adaptation of Agatha Christie's novel And Then There Were None. And I have to admit, it was great and guess who played Philip Lombard? Aidan Turner himself AKA Ross Poldark :)). But yeah the series was great and pretty easy to watch since there are only 3 episodes. But like almost every other film and TV show, there are differences between the original and the adaptation. So here are the differences that I found:

1. Name of the island

Ok so in the series the island is called Soldier Island and the producers also change the rhymes with "Ten Little Soldier Boys" instead of "The Ten Little Indians." The original title was even worse.

2. Wargrave and cancer

In the OG novel, Wargrave suffers from cancer and he is dying, but cancer is never mentioned in the series.

3. Roger's violence

This time we are talking about Mr Roger. There are more things to say about him, one of them being the way he murdered that old lady. In the series, Roger kills her by suffocation with a pillow. But in the book, he along with his wife killed the old lady by changing her medication. And also in the show, he is significantly violent to his wife.

4. Blore's murder

So what about Blore? Blore's murder was different in the two versions. In the original story, Blore gets a promotion at work and sends Landor to prison. He wanted to secure that promotion for him and Landor eventually dies in the penal colony. But in the miniseries, Blore is guilty because he beats a gay man to death. Probably because of homophobia.

5. Vera and Philip's relationship

So there is a big difference between something made in 1939 and something made in 2015. And they are going to approach things differently. And that is obvious with Vera and Lombard. In the novel, they clearly glow closer but doesn't go anywhere. In the series though, they do go somewhere with the relationship. They share some kisses and they do sleep together. And Armstrong starts to believe that they are Mr and Mrs Owen.

Is just realised that this post is too long so part 2 soon!
