Most aesthetically pleasing period films

I recently rewatched some of my favourite and most visually appealing period drama films and made a list (sorted in no particular order).

  1. Pride & Prejudice (2005)

I couldn't start this without the classic Pride and Prejudice. Really from the moment I started writing the title I knew this film was going to be here. Don't get me wrong, I also like BBC's iconic version, but the 2005 one really succeeds in the overall aesthetic. There is a yellowish tint that you can even see in the poster, the soundtrack is brilliant and there is a zoom on the characters' eyes to how they feel.

  2. Sense and Sensibility (1995)

I absolutely loved Sense and Sensibility because it shares the same yellowish tint that you can again, see even in the poster. The film is charming and I really liked it when I first watched it.

  3. Marie Antoinette (2006)

I remember watching this film and admiring it so much because it just has a let's say light aesthetic. And combined with a few shades of pink it turns out brilliant. Also, there isn't a constant pinkish colour there is also yellow and light blue.

  4. Jane Eyre (2011)

This film reminded me very much of Victoria because of the bluish tint you can clearly see. The film is also beautifully shot. And the film itself is one of my favourites, definitely recommend you to watch it if you like classic romance.

  5. The Young Victoria (2009)

The Young Victoria is probably one of my favourite movies of ALL TIME. The shots are immaculate especially the powerful into. And I just love everything about this film the music, the lines, the shots and many more. I think I've watched it like 8 times now and I still enjoy every bit.
